Reference books are located on the first floor, near the librarian's office.
The Library Catalog and WorldCat Discovery are tools for finding books, journal titles, websites, DVDs and other material available from Abington Library and worldwide.
There are various encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, and indexes on World History and related topics. Most of these will be in the Library of Congress Subject Division starting with D. They are further subdivided by a second letter. Here are some common classifications:
Biographies will be classified under the country of origin. So Napoleon, would be under DC for France. Print books should be on the second floor, while reference books will be on the 1st floor. When searching the Library Catalog, it should indicate the collection and the call number. Electronic books have no call numbers, but they have a link to where the eBook is located.
Use the following tools when the Arkansas State University-Beebe libraries don't own the books you need, or if you just want to see what other materials might be available on your topic at other libraries:
OCLC WorldCat - Search results will show which libraries have a particular item.
Interlibrary Loan Form - Fill out this form and email it to circ@asub.edu. Make sure to provide any important information, so we can find the item at another library.
Mockingbird, the Arkansas Statewide Virtual Union Catalog provides a single point of access to participating Arkansas library catalogs. Users can search this combined catalog and request interlibrary loans from participating institutions. You can access it at ASU-Beebe Mockingbird Catalog.
