Citation Guides: Works Cited

Sample MLA Work Cited Entries

Below are some example work cited entries using MLA Style, 9th Edition. It is far from exhaustive. For more examples check out the MLA Handbook available at the library. Easiest way to find the type of example that you're looking for is to look at Appendix 2 at match your need with the type of example listed. For example, if you needed to know how to cite a book written and published by an organization, you'd go to page 314 and follow the example below that entry. Note that not all oniline databases or citation generators have updated their format for the 9th edition, so you'll want to look carefully, since the latest edition is relatively new.
